H.E. Beibut Atamkulov
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, and the Philippines
Mr. Atamkulov, right after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree from Kazakh Polytechnical Institute, Almaty in 1986, worked in the metals industry of Kazakhstan. He started as a melter to eventually becoming its Deputy Head of External Economic Relation Unit at the Metallurgy Factory, Shymkent in Kazakhstan (1986-1991); Head Expert, Director of Chermeteksport firm within the Kazmetallexport State Company under the Ministry of External Economic Relations (MEER) of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1991-1993); First Deputy Director-General State foreign trade company, Kazakhstan Sauda, under MEER (1993-1995); and, First Deputy Director-General, Karmetcombinat, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Kazakhstan, Temirtay (1995-1996)
In 1996, he was the Director General of Rakhat-metals, Almaty (1996-2002). At the same time, he finished his PhD degree in 2000 from the State University of Economics and Finance in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation. He eventually became the CEO of Rakhat group of companies (2002-2006)..
Mr. Atamkulov held various positions within Foreign Service, including - Counsellor, Minister-Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation (2006-2007); Minister-Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Islamic Republic of Iran (2006-2008); Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Frankfurt, Germany (February 2008).
In May 2010, Mr. Beibut Atamkulov was appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, and the Philippines. The Ambassador resides in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
He is married and has three children.
