Ambassador’s Biography

The current Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Malaysia, Mr. Daniyar P. Sarekenov, was born on 25 September 1971. A graduate of the Kazakh State University, he began his career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan immediately after his graduation in 1993 as a desk officer in the Department for Asian Countries, eventually being promoted to an attaché and later as its third secretary. In 1997, he was transferred to the Embassy of Kazakhstan in South Korea, where he served as its second secretary.

In 2000 to 2003, he became division head of two departments: the Department of International Cooperation (2000-2001) and the Middle East and Africa Department (2002-2003).

In 2003 he became unit head of the Asia and Africa Department, and in 2004 he became the deputy head of the External Affairs Division of the Office of the Prime Minister. From 2006 to 2007 he became the deputy director of the Asia and Africa Department, and in 2007 to 2011 he served as the minister-counselor of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Japan. He again assumed his post as deputy director of the Asia and Africa Department from 2012 to April 2013, when he was transferred to the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Malaysia as its minister-counselor.

In September 2013, he was appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei.

He is married and has two children.
